What an automated audit can catch
Automated testing finds a large share of accessibility problems, typically the most common and the easiest to fix. But we're upfront about what no automated tool (ours included) can verify:
- Meaningfulness of text, we verify that an alt attribute exists; whether it says anything useful, only a human can judge.
- Keyboard control, automated checks catch selected keyboard and focus issues; whether the whole task can actually be completed by keyboard, only manual testing shows.
- Comprehensibility of content, plain language, consistent navigation, cognitive load.
- Multimedia, we detect that captions exist, but not their quality.
